Advice For Planning A Funeral With A Small Budget

Stacy Carpenter

If you have to plan a funeral and have found yourself working with a small budget, you will need to make decisions carefully. To help you plan the funeral service of a loved one, here are a few vital suggestions that you will want to take into consideration:

Ask About Having One Viewing Session

A lot of people will reserve a viewing room for at least a couple of days and then have two viewing times on each day. Remember though, you have to pay for each day you intend to use the viewing room. To cut costs, you could request to only use one of their viewing rooms one day. If possible, you can ask about not only reserving the viewing room for one day, but only half of the day. Have one viewing in the evening, as that may be the best time slot to accommodate everyone.

Ask For Donations Online

There are a few ways you can seek out donations for the funeral services, one of which is online. You can simply ask for help and have donors give money directly to the funeral home, or you can set up a charity account where people can donate online, right from the comfort of their home. The more convenient it is for people to donate, the more money you might be able to collect. You can then transfer the donations to your bank account and use that account to pay for the funeral services.

Opt For Cremation And A Rented Casket

Cremation is a more affordable option when compared to the cost of the standard burial. Also, with a rented casket, you can skip having to spend a lot of money on the purchase of one. After all, it will not be used for burial, only for the viewing. While you still have to pay for the rented casket, it will be much more affordable. Of course, you can still opt to bury the cremated remains if that is something that is important to your family, and that can be discussed with a cemetery, or you can bury the ashes on private property.

Make sure that you are setting up an appointment to discuss additional ways in which you can plan a lovely funeral service on whatever budget that you have to work with. They might even be able to set you up on a payment plan to cover whatever you cannot pay for upfront.
