Plan A Beautiful And Memorable Ceremony That Demonstrates Your Aunt's Love Of Animals

Stacy Carpenter

If your aunt was an avid animal lover and her last wishes were to be cremated and for her memorial service to include details about her life as well as to raise awareness concerning animals that are housed at a local humane society, plan a beautiful and memorable ceremony with the tips below.

Framed Photos

If your aunt had a pet that she cherished and spent time with during the last years of her life, look through pictures that she gave to you or that you captured with your own camera to locate a photo that displays your aunt and her pet spending time together.

For example, if your aunt owned a dog and used to take him on long walks at the park or spent time playing with him in her back yard, look for a picture that depicts one of these special times. Take the picture to a photo studio and request that a clerk print additional copies of the photo for you. Frame the photos and give them to visitors who attend your family member's memorial service.

Collection For Animals

Place a decorative bowl on top of the table where your aunt's urn is displayed. A bowl that has pictures of animals on its exterior or that has the names of animals printed on it will capture the attention of the guests who have attended the service. Call the humane society prior to the cremation ceremony to learn about some of the animals who live there and items that they need, such as food, bedding, or medication.

Create a small sign by typing or printing on card stock some information about animals at the humane society. List the animal breeds, ages, and length of time that the animals have spent at the humane society. Include information about the items that animals need and request that each person donate a small sum of money to assist with supporting the animals.

Shirts That Are Customized

Purchase some white t-shirts and take them to a business that provides screen printing services. Request that an original design is created that includes a picture of your aunt and several animals. Include your aunt's date of birth and death in the design that you have chosen. After the screen printing has been added to the garments, fold the shirts and place them in a plastic tub. Carry the tub into the funeral home on the day of the cremation service. Hand one shirt to each attendee so that they can remember your aunt whenever they wear the clothing.
